I would've never expected a zombie film to entertain me so much. One of really good comedies nowadays. It may not make you laugh out loud and won't stay with you for a long time but if you just want a perfect pause for your brain activity with no damage- this is the ultimate choice.
Funny film with lots going for it ,Most notably Woody Harrelson who walks away with the film.
Loved the rules of Zombieland flashing up on the screen and of course the Zombie attacks and IN jokes.
A pure popcorn movie and really thats no bad thing
Absolute fun. The two male leads are perfectly cast and have awesome on-screen chemistry. The female unfortunately do eventually fall into the damsel-in-distress category but most of the way through they play a nice counterpoint to their co-stars. The direction is spot on all the way through and the use of graphics in the movie especially during the credit sequence is creative and hilarious.
10 years later Fleischer's 'Zombieland' still stands as crackerjack entertainment with a good mix of comedy and horror tropes imagining a post apocalypse America. The four leads are so above the material to make it something special even if the scripting and situations are often of a sitcom variety.
this was a great film in the beginning...to quote Freaks & Geeks in regards to Stripes (Bill Murray film...gotcha!)...it was lopsided...the end became too emotional without keeping its humor. i still think shaun of the dead is the best funny zombie movie ever made and would suggest it over this film every time.
I was surprised to like this movie as much as I did. It doesn't muck around with the tired cliches of the zombie genre as much as you'd expect, instead focusing on the interplay between some colorful characters. It has its moments of cloying quirkiness, but generally, it's genuine and unpretentious enough to be solid entertainment, even if it's never as original or witty as something like 'Shaun of the Dead'.
The film has definitely a lot of potential, built on some crazy ideas (like the visual inserts with the rules) and sharp irony. But it gets dramaturgically weak and looses its grip in the end. Nonetheless, it's a great fun to watch.
