A biopic on the French designer Yves Saint Laurent from the beginning of his career in 1958 when he met his lover Pierre Bergé. As the years went by, a series of creative crises and emotional conflicts begin to drain of his energy, and put a strain on his relationship and the company’s future.

Started off positive, the colour is nice and sets the scene well, thanks to the accompanying sets and beautiful outfits. The lead performance is strong and I liked all the jazz music, but unfortunately this becomes a run of the mill biopic, and therefore doesn't grab you.
Pierre Niney gives a chameleon like turn here as Saint Laurent and makes the film something more than just another biopic. Time periods are well captured by director Lespert especially in the early going when fashion shows were in an intimate setting. Performances all around are top notch and despite a hasty ending the film is all around satisfying.
Seeing how much Pierre Bergé loves Yves Saint Laurent makes my expectation in relationship got higher. It is fun to know that the dresses in this film are the authentic, loaned by Foundation Piere Bergé - Yves Saint Laurent.
