When Zia cuts his wrists, he enters an alternate afterlife where ‘suicidees’ bear the scars born from the manner in which they died.
He meets a variety of oddball characters who embark on a roadtrip with him.

"Maybe Eugene's right. Maybe I only get stuck on girls I don't have a chance of being with. I am glad for Mikal, though. I hope she got her visa all straightened out. I mean, she did say she'd be right back. Then again, Eugene's old wisdom is when a girl says that, she never does actually come back."
not sure why, but something about wristcutters reminded me of nimrod antal's kontroll, a film, which incidentally i liked much better. wristcutters has its moments but it's not entirely effective. i was trying place patrick fugit who plays the main character, zia. turns out he was kid in almost famous.....
Offbeat road movie is sometimes clever and sometimes pretentious, but the cast is likable (that Gogol Bordello guy gets annoying, but Tom Waits is in it too, so it evens out) and it's pleasant enough to sit through, though not particularly memorable.
One of the most loveable and original indie flicks I've seen. A small but committed film that explores the life of the lost souls in the suicidal underworld. Slow and pleasurable, with a bleak cinematography perfectly built for those characters. You've gotta check out this one.
I'm not sure it works as well as a film where the only way to structure everything is thourgh a love story. But there is more architecture in this which go beyond one film, they definitely should do a tv-serie with it....
