A Wunderkammer of sleeze from days past. The intimate way which Borowczyk shows each of his curiousities gives them an almost tangible presense. Alas, the censored sequence breaks the immension.

I don't want to sound like a prude or a square but there's actual child pornography in this film 5:35 to 5:48. At least it's only PART of the dude's porn collection and not the whole thing. Why did Mubi bother to censor the doggie fucking a woman and not the child porn? Which isn't nearly as bad, although we don't know if the dog was coerced or was consenting or what. I want Mubi to show porn! But not child porn.

Provocative but unsurprisingly well-framed filmed collection of erotic paraphernalia, this is also a devastating critique on the art of seeing, the desire implicit in all sorts of surveillance and the hypocrisy that escorts the 'police of morals'. Clearly not unproblematic by current standards on obsenity (as in the teenage girls photos) it nonetheless offers an antidote to the countless sins of mainstream films.

A dangerous Surrealist bomb; disgusting in parts, but aimed at the walls inside us that keep us from being free, from being spontaneously, intrinsically moral. Not intended to be a vision of what we should aim for, but a crowbar, a wrecking ball to uncover the delicate flowers inside us trapped under foundations laid for houses that are not our true homes.

A bizarre collection of vintage fetishist memorabilia interesting to see but framed without substance. Not offensive but oft obnoxious. 50/100 - Mediocre.

My only regret with this was the lack of English subtitles, but that did not detract from a very interesting short. Thank you for the link Salem.

The film that caused me to cancel my Mubi subscription. If this had been censored (being pro-censorship in the case of real-life child pornography as opposed to, say, the Dangerous Cartoons Act) I would have given it two stars due to the balance between the crude and the charming, but showing uncensored [Victorian] pornographic photography of children is vile.
