Since this is treated separately from The Return, I will as well. Alternating between suspenseful, quirky, haunting, downright funny, and an endless list of adjectives, this one remains unique, even after imitations in later years. It loses a bit of steam after the murderer is revealed, but picks it back up again when the second season comes to a close. Great TV.
Redefined what a television soap opera could be. Lynch lured people in with the promise of a murder mystery and then confounded them with his surreal, stylish, disturbing, hilariously funny artistry. No one has even come close to what he achieved with this show. Yet, hacks such as J.J. Abrams continue to try, they needn't bother. When Lynch is cooking and making art no one can touch him.
American cult series, where Angelo BADALMENTI's haunting music merges with David LYNCH's dreamlike universe. An offbeat Federal agent (Kyle MACLACHLAN) meets an intriguing Lolita (Sherilyn FENN). =-=- Série américaine culte, où l'envoûtante musique d'Angelo BADALMENTI se fond à l'univers inquiétant & onirique de David LYNCH. It’s safe to say, Twin Peaks has not stood the test of time. Back in the 90s I can understand that this might have been a breath of fresh air amongst the sitcoms and soap operas of the late 80s. However considering the high calibre of television in the recent decade it really doesn’t hold much clout to new viewers who have grow up with the likes of Black Mirror, True Detective, Stranger Things or even Sherlock.
TWIN PEAKS is one of my favorite TV series of all time (along with THE TWILIGHT ZONE). David Lynch and Mark Frost succeed to invent a new innovation in television format. Although it released a small format, TWIN PEAKS could create a cinematic experience when you're watching it. Kyle MacLachlan as FBI Agent Dale Cooper - perhaps is one the best TV characters I've ever seen. I'm gonna visit this series again someday..
