It's hard for me to see a film here. I'd say it's a tv broadcast. The material has some interesting points, Lars von Trier's parts for instance or the way Claire Denis reacts to the whole thing (which made me want to see more of her films) but I missed a director here, artistic approach, I missed cinema. And that dramatic music in the beginning? Come on! If it's some kind of irony then it simply doesn't work.
Woeful. At times seems designed to intentionally embarrass some of the world's greatest image-makers. Alex Payne shows up to say he has only seen a few and Seventh Seal is really bad. Opening is shot like intro to The Amazing Race. Is it about the island or his work - it doesn't know. How could you include LVT's rant about Bergman's semen? Denis unsurprisingly most rational, fleeing in distaste.
