The worst of the neglect and abuse people face always comes from the people with whom they are closest, because home is where the hatred is. Aside from some dated Islamophobia in one sketch, this is an exemplary comedy program and a pioneering achievement in the world of the anthology series with a uniquely tactile art style. Even with all the gruesome horror stories, Solen and Chatman manage moments of real beauty.
Fast and bulbous; slow and squamous! Chatman seems increasingly auteurist as this reminds me more of 'Mindsploitation' than PFFR's other shows. Aesthetically and tonally 'TST' is like 'Anomalisa' with gags. Not quite as breathless as 'Xavier', but still dense with tossed-off associative ideas, often inverted back upon themselves or nested within one another, rendered in painstaking stop-motion, both breezy and heavy.
