Charlie Chaplin United States, 1942

dionysus67's rating of the film The Gold Rush

Truly innovative piece of cinema which makes wonders in terms of Chaplin's unique way of mastering horizontal movement in the frame. It features several wonderful scenes of film anthology. Great fun with the usually dizzying circularities (a sort of metaphysics for Chaplin), literaly in the cabin and also in terms of narrative, the latter spoiled by an unecessary voice over by the master himself.
