CHARLES & S-B COHEN don't respect anything or anyone & make everyone laugh ... well almost everyone, since some here are giving 1 or 2 stars ! Let's shoot them, hang them, behead them right now ! == CHARLES & S-B COHEN ne respectent rien ni personne & font rire tout le monde ... Enfin presque tout le monde, à voir les coincés qui mettent 1 ou 2 étoiles ! Qu'on les fusille, les pende, les décapite sur le champ !!
To call this abysmal is to exaggerate its star qualities. I can only assume that Sacha Baron Cohen was offered a large amount of folding wallet-warmers to take part in this dreadful, unamusing, puerile, Americanised tripe designed for the retards in the lowest form in a redneck high school. And to think that our noble SIR Ben Kingsley stooped so low. The only funny jokes are wrecked by bad direction.
I would give this 3 1/2 stars. There are truly moments of satirical brilliance in it but isn't as consistent as Bruno, Borat, and Ali G in da house. The speech given at the end when our main character finally changes really hits hard.
Sacha Baron Cohen's outrageous characters are perhaps better suited to a sketch format, but his latest creation, THE DICTATOR, offers some moments of inspiration. Following North African dictator, Admiral General Aladeen, as he goes to address the United Nations, the film is a gloriously inappropriate comedy that unfortunately drags a bit when stretched into feature length.
In Borat 2, Cohen's take on Charlie Chaplin's Hitler biopic, the central themes of political satire were often overlooked by Cohen's gods given talent of exploitation for the sake of exploitation. From Anna Faris' portrayal of Justin Bieber to a vagina-cam planted in the roots of a pregnant woman to Arab's bombing buildings, everything sort of interweaves and combines into one colossal 9/11ish mess.
Romcom clichés and tropes in the service of ridiculing Middle Eastern dictators and lots of other stuff. The Dictator is very very silly, the jokes go way low. Sometimes it’s funny and occasionally the jokes are smart, most of the time unfortunately not. Without the reality aspect of Ali G, Borat or Brüno, the element of exposing, Sacha Baron Cohen ends up being average on most accounts.
