If there's an inner narrative, I can't spot it, but it does establish Lynch very briefly as a budding expert at the grotesque horror you can get by tossing childlike innocence and total nightmare fuel into the same jar, shaking it, and seeing if they fight.
To me, THE ALPHABET is a very intriguing short movie from director David Lynch. I watched this short movie so many times. I always felt that there was actually hidden meaning in this movie. Maybe THE ALPHABET is satire about the educational system. Well, because learning ABC is the very basic form in every almost education system. Since we were kids, it was always taught first along with numbers. But I could be wrong
The genius of Lynch. Feed the children with the alphabet while watching his creepy, surreal imagery and the kids will be his followers for life. I feed my child with this one and she is having lovely nightmares that will be great for her creativity in the long run. She will thank me someday.
This made me so fucking uncomfortable and I don't entirely know why. Not scary per se, but just very creepy and prone to poking at my own memories of past nightmares. The darkness that surrounds you after waking from one feels exactly like this.
