The camera floating towards the Crypt Keeper's mansion set to Danny Elfman's theme song at the start triggered a serious nostalgia blast. I'm not sure if anything that followed in "Demon Knight" came close to that dopamine rush, but this is a fun horror/action/Western hybrid. No doubt the 'bottle episode' format was a cost-saving measure, but at least the right amount of money was poured into goopy demon effects.
Feels like a long episode of the TftC, which partly works against it in the end. Pinkett Smith is as bland as a cucumber and the story itself could be more interesting, but overall a pretty fun late night movie. Special effects are great and the crooked camera angles add to the comic-like atmosphere. Zane really steals the show, though. He's perfect for the role and perfectly, um, zany. "Fuck this cowboy shit!"
