  • Michael H. CLAES's rating of the film Stranger Things

You liked REC, POLTERGEIST or BLAIR WITCH PROJECT, you may like this one. Unfortunately it is slow (as most series), talkative, and the action doesn't progress as it should to maintain a strong interest. == Si vous avez aimé REC, POLTERGEIST ou BLAIR WITCH, vous aimerez peut-être ceci. Malheureusement lent (comme la plupart des séries), bavard & l'action ne progresse pas comme on pourrait espérer.

  • Rafael Zen's rating of the film Stranger Things

It's a cool 80's homage, but what else? At the end, I don't know how, but I thought Stranger Things was - maybe - two episodes too long. And the Demogorgon-wanna-be creature is not that much to be honest. In my opinion, the success of ST relies on being an easy show to binge-watch. But the cast - now we're talking about something golden. Bring back Winona more often, please!

If the Duffer Brothers have one talent above all others, is that of mix-and-match a la Quentin Tarantino. They're perhaps the first to fully capitalize on this wave of now-stalgia and for that they deserve praise. The series itself is... "cute".

  • Wee Hunk's rating of the film Stranger Things

Why did this one work, and 'The Get Down' didn't? I wasn't overwhelmed by the complexity of this one. It managed to be an homage to 80's cinema with little things thrown in that made it modern. The monster, for instance, was so much better than anything seen in the 80's.

  • Duncan Gray's rating of the film Stranger Things

As Netflix runs their algorithm and orders content by the pound, Stranger Things is so custom-designed to pander to me that I kind of have to respect that in spite of myself. It has a few problems that are mundane to TV—like some things not adding up— and I doubt it can last very long. But this is still a loving pastiche of 80s sci-fi, clearly with one eye on middle school viewers who never heard of John Carpenter.

  • mpho3's rating of the film Stranger Things

"It’s neither a knowing postmodern adaptation nor an out-and-out nostalgia piece. The princess is a boy, the lost warrior is a girl, but it’s not a gendered re-boot or update. Despite its rootedness in the early 80s, it’s not really a period piece. For all its wild recycling of tropes, images & plotlines from a broad swathe of genre history, ST doesn’t have an agenda. It’s just telling a fun story."-Aaron Bady, LARB

  • Didar Merve's rating of the film Stranger Things

Binge-watch reminds me my "It" days of Stephen King . Actually whole Stranger Things experience is very similar to me with "It" atmosphere. Art direction goes above and beyond, watching my beautiful Winona as miserable mother of two is pretty awkward, children make so much noise and the show is creepy af (sorry for my language but it's scared my pants off, guys. I'm serious.)

  • ig_____or's rating of the film Stranger Things

A remix done right, just like the first "Star Wars" was, in 1977. While I could recognise the majority of the references, this still felt fresh and cool. The kids were adorable, Eleven was fierce and perfectly casted. Also the opening titles and soundtrack were absolutely sick and boy do I love a good comeback story: couldn't be happier for Winona Ryder. Let's see what the Duffer Brothers have in store for season 2!
