One of those moments where neo-noir without trumpeting its style achieves tension, psychological depth, intense rhythm and whilst it does not pretend to eschew predictability its denouement maintains intensity. Pacino acts with the usual heroic committment to the role, Barkin is at her best as the fiery femme fatale and Becker's film toys well with our (and Pacino's) stereotypical genre perceptions. Worth seeing.
Trascurabile.
2 1/2. It's a mess but it's not a total mess. Barkin and Goodman are fantastic. Pacino is mostly fine. The ending is deadly Hollywood in a bad way but a solid chunk of the movie is entertaining. Worth a rental.
