Run All Night Directed by Jaume Collet-Serra
Run All Night is, as its title suggests, all momentum, and at its best, it propels itself past—if not above—the clichés of its screenplay. As Liam Neeson shepherds son Joel Kinnaman through a New York night with assassins in every shadow—agents of retribution sent by gangster Ed Harris, who lost his own heir a few hours earlier—Collet-Serra blends old-school chops with some wacky, over-amped nonsense and, crucially, never inflates the story beyond its narrow parameters.
