ROMANCING THE STONE is fun, exciting, thrilling, and very well-written. Led by charming performance from both Michael Douglas and Kathleen Turner. They succeed to create an unforgettable chemistry in this movie. Danny DeVito also succeed as the scene-stealer. Although has some familiar elements and hard not to compare it with INDIANA JONES, this movie is still gave us a fresh perspective of adventure genre. Great!
The type of romantic adventure flick that only 80s could produce. Cheese in abundance, but going for the ride is fun and energizing because of the unrivalled chemistry between Douglas and Turner. Doesn't take itself too seriously, so there are barely any cringeworthy moments, and a lot of the elements from old-fashioned adventure films of the yesteryear have been recycled in a refreshing way.
Probably the best of all the many Indiana Jones copies at the time as it approached the story through the romantic supporting character’s viewpoint. While the comedy feels forced, no one could take away the erotic tension between Turner and Douglas. No wonder both they and Danny deVito would reunire in films again.

For an adventure movie, this is very slowly paced. Maybe if Zemeckis didn't shoot most of the movie in wider shots it would've gone a bit faster. For the most part it was pretty flat and unexciting, and Turner and Douglas are pretty weak. The music's pretty awful too. You can tell Zemeckis and Alan Silvestri were just warming up to do BTTF. The opening was good and some of the action scenes weren't bad.
