  • dionysus67's rating of the film Regeneration

A great tribute to Sasoon's poetry and its (self-)healing impact on WWI carnage. Yet, after an extremely impressive opening shot (as if in a long tableaux vivant), the film recedes into academism. The cast however carries the story with committment led by J. Pryce. (Wilby is also very good.) Had the initial aesthetic been extended Mackinnon would have created a near-masterpiece. A good film though.
