Took a while to get off the ground due to all the characters it wanted to use. The most useless of all the characters was Dorian Gray. The first season was the best. Unfortunately, it lost steam and gradually puttered out.
Dumping all known horror characters in it seems like a lazy writing and marketing. Why trying to make a Suicide Squad version of Victorian monsters?? The Vanessa Ives character is already strong enough to be a center point, heck, Eva Green practically steals the whole scene everything she came in. Such a waste.
Hard to have a thrilling ensemble drama when two characters are both more original and far more interesting than the rest of the cast (Eva Green's Mother of Evil and Hartnett's lycanthropic Ethan Chandler). Frankenstein, his first monster, Dorian Gray, and Dr. Jekyll are all uninteresting and blandly portrayed, imo. But Green has the capacity to make even the most dreadfully preposterous lines sing. If this had been a little more concise in the later seasons I think it would have been better. At a certain point, it became much too convoluted indicative of wanting to retain Sky subscriptions rather than creative control. Maybe just watch seasons 1-2.
