When Mad Max meets Star Wars and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, you get Acción Mutante. A film that seems harmless at first but lingers in your mind though. The initial credits are hilarious. A good introduction into De La Iglesia imaginary world. Recommended.
The Spaniard freak Alex De la Iglesia debuts with this funny futuristic black comedy where a guerrilla formed by anarchistic cripples plan their biggest attack to the establishment, then all hell breaks loose.
A not so good movie, but a riot for any fan of this curious filmmaker.
The idea of a terrorist faction of trashy and ugly mutants terrorizing the beautiful elite in a dystopian universe is one for the ages. It's actually so great a concept that it's disappointing when it switches gears and too quickly involves a traitor-in-the-midst plot thread, with many of these anti-heroes dying. They are so creative and original in their very conceit that it's sad they don't get further developed.
I think the story was fine and very different of another spanish movies (spanish cinema doesn't have many sci-fi movies) but I get bored sometimes. I like the scene of the wedding, by the way. Hahaha. Very funny.
