La sirène du Mississipi

François Truffaut Italy, 1969

Dada Kubin's rating of the film Mississippi Mermaid

As a thriller “La Sirène” isn’t very thrilling, because most of the time the viewer is on to what’s happening next. To me “La Sirène” is primarily expressing a certain kind of love: the all-encompassing, all-forgiving, romantically self-sacrificial, naive love that defies all reason and rationalisation. And the protagonist’s acts defy logic accordingly, as does the whole script.
