Midnight in Paris

Directed by Woody Allen
United States, Spain, 2011
Comedy, Romance, Fantasy

Gil and his fiancée tour the city of love separately whilst on vacation in Paris. Gil meets a a group of strange revellers who take him back in time to the Jazz Age. The more time he spends in the past, the more dissatisfied he becomes with the present.

Our take

A self-reflexive look at the danger & discontents of nostalgia, Woody Allen’s wistful, ironic comedy doubles as a bonafide who’s-who of 20th century Modernism. Featuring tongue-in-cheek cameos from all the Left Bank intellectual heavyweights: Hemingway, Fitzgerald, Picasso and Stein.
