Malgré un début un peu lent, néanmoins très intéressant ( séquences silencieuses en plans fixes) une belle vision de Marseille qui ne tombe jamais dans le cliché de la ville violente. Dans le scénario la réalisatrice déjoue toujours l'attendu. Alexis Loret est excellent.

I did not have much affection for "Mein langsames Leben". Now i feel two steps closer to Schanelec with "Marseille" and its trademark unconventional editing. I find some ideas similar to ones you would actually find in literature, this construction with some gaps, something Duras could write. The acting is solid as well and Maren Eggert has a magnetic quality. I don´t like everything but it´s a bold film for sure.

3.5/10. Slow film with absolutely no story to tell, in addition to having no budget. Joke: This won the German film critics' award for best screenplay in 2005. No, really.

Le film cherche de bout en bout à se débarrasser de cette vacuité intellectuelle qui colle aux personnages. Une espèce de désespoir allemand profondément pessimiste qui annonce les désillusions actuelles . L'habileté des images, cette façon branchée de "shooter le temps " ne suffit pas à combler le vide. Pas d'imagination au pouvoir, un autisme artistique qui précède les ennuis !

2.5 There are 3 fragments here that could have been expanded into feature-length films in their own right; as fragments though, they fail to cohere and left me puzzled. The initial fragment sets up an interesting romantic relationship in Marseille. The middle fragment about a family's dynamic is a different drama. The third crime fragment is unusual but fails to deliver anything substantial. Too cryptic on the whole.
