Favorite short-film of all times. Thought provoking, ground breaking, experimental and many other things. The narrative and the use of photographs for its development is something out of this world. One of the best stories ever and I can't see how anyone would dislike this short. PLEASE, IF YOU HAVEN'T, GO WATCH IT IMMEDIATELY.

A 'photo novel' - I can tell you this now that I've seen one - sits somewhere between a film and a dream, and probably closer to the latter. Still images upon which we impose continuity. It's as much a tribute to our minds as to Marker that the format works so well. His genius is in using it to explore the implications - the fragility of linear time, when the choice, or the privilege, of continuity is threatened.
