Tony, a graffiti artist, and his young streetwise friend Jockey, are heading across France with a van load of luminous gnomes, but are sidetracked when Tony decides to seek out the love of his life. They steal a car in which they discover the sleeping figure of Léon.

**1/2. Last Yves Montand movie. I kinda liked the first part of the film and the scenes in the forest. Yves Montand walking on water and speaking to the trees are, let's admit it, very special scenes. Then, little by little, the film lost its charm and my interest. The love story became uninteresting and the dialogues stupid and affected. All in all, a disappointment. Almost already forgotten.
Beineix's material would operate and translate as highly sentimental and generic kitsch in the hands of most other directors...thankfully he is not like most other directors and treats his wistful stories and their characters as close to life as possible, bringing us to a the fore of a believability we probably never assumed we'd allow ourselves to take in.
