Oddly, there are very few filmmakers whom I envy, even the phenomenally talented ones who may be mistaken for Bodhisattvas by their sheer visual grace and aesthetic wisdom. But damn if I don't envy Chris Marker for making films like 'If I Had Four Dromedaries.'
the missing link between La Jetee & Sans Soleil: sweeping, audacious, mordantly funny, breathtaking and ultimately transcendental. Marker's writing is incomparable- the 'amateur' flaneur at one of his very best!
