What are people saying?

  • Jason's rating of the film Freeway

I believe it was Matthew Bright himself who publicly swooned over the resemblance young Reese Witherspoon bore to Tweety Bird. Especially in profile. Well, indeed, yes, and swoon we well might. Tweety Bird as Red Riding Hood. What was especially lovely about FREEWAY, when it first came out, was that its pulp trashiness was acutely political, its belief clearly in the subversion of good taste to emancipatory ends.

  • VENIMOS LOS JODIMOS Y NOS FUIMOS's rating of the film Freeway

  • Renton47's rating of the film Freeway

I strongly suspect that sometimes descriptors of 'camp', 'satire' or 'bad taste' are being wielded by those in a position of privilege. Freeway is anything but insincere. It takes very seriously the predicament of its endearing hero and never stoops to mock those who live in dire straits. It is a pretty flawless piece of gung-ho entertainment, realistic but joyous at its core.

  • Bob's rating of the film Freeway

What could easily end up as another post-Pulp Fiction exploitation is turned into a wicked little flick that doesn’t limit itself from explicit sex and violence, even though most of it’s done off-screen. Kiefer Sutherland and Reese Witherspoon surprisingly turn their larger than life characters into a living beings. Dark comedy or a crime-thriller, it works on both accounts as a simple Red Riding Hood retelling.

  • Cathy Heard's rating of the film Freeway

Gotta say it. This is one of Reese's best (along with Election). They make a great double feature, quite a "study in contrasts". Awesomely crass, grotesque, gory, campy... like John Waters on meth.

  • WeirdHair's rating of the film Freeway

This plays like a horror-thriller movie. The posters would have you believe this is a car chase film. It is not! This is one of Reese Witherspoon's early films and she clearly shows signs that she is an actress with skill and commitment. Some of the stuff is over the top but Witherspoon's Vanessa makes it look so natural. Fun way to pass the time. Danny Elfman's score is amazing. Truth is eternal.

  • Siaudebert's rating of the film Freeway

Feeling divided about it - Original adaptation of he Red Riding Hood, picture of the white trash and but a bit too much, and not played as it deserved

  • Rattzz Matanzano's rating of the film Freeway

One excellent flick. Reese Witherspoon's best acting job as the would-be-victim of Serial Killer Bob (Kiefer Sutherland), one thing is for damn sure, she ain't the one in danger here! lol, this is a wild ride, provocative, hilarious, and completely goddamn unpredictable. I recommend you watch this puppy immediately if you have got the time.
