What a nice labor of love; what an admirable cross-section of visual styles. Two and three were my favorites, but definitely a solid film on the whole. I even appreciated the discussions of Poe's spirit that bridged the adaptations of his stories.
The variation in animation styles is cool, but the anthology format of 5 short stories really kills the emotional affect in Poe's prose. The framing device of Poe as the raven talking to death is unnecessary. The TellTale Heart adaptation with Bella Lugosi narrating is uninspired and hard to hear. The Pit and the Pendulum and The Masque of the Red Death are solid. Guillermo Del Toro's narration for Pit is cool.
