A sweet and charming movie about a bar brawler & his Orangutan named Clyde. It's a very funny film yet what's most surprising is its gentle nature & its quietly moving ending, which illustrates the moral of humility unlike many other films. Every Which Way but Loose is a great Hollywood comedy, one that both wisely knows when losing is sometimes better than winning & that to punch a Nazi in the face is a good thing.
Clint Eastwood is best buds with a orangutan for two glorious hours. So happy this movie exists, SO happy they made a squeal. Honestly I would watch a third even a fourth and a fifth film. I'll Take Clint talking to Clyde over an invisible Obama any day.
It's basically Clint Eastwood kicking people's asses for two hours. The film struggles to find the right balance between gritty and goofy, but it's fun to watch it try. The orangutan isn't nearly as big a part of this as you might expect. I like Eastwood in a movie like this - he doesn't have to alter his persona at all; he just gives the same squinty performance while the wackiness piles up around him.
I feel like this is based on events that happened to the screenwriter. Like a woman rejected him so he followed her around trying to win her over but couldn’t. As a way to get payback he wrote this movie where it’s the same events except it’s her fault for leading him on and he only had good intentions. The point of view this film tries to portray is outright delusional. Don’t know where the orangutan fits in though
