Wes Craven United States, 1985

Lights in the Dusk's rating of the film Chiller

A curious subtext about the unconditional love between mother & son, almost as a true modern-day Frankenstein myth; however the notion of faith as superior to science is just bizarre! While well acted - & featuring an interesting colour scheme of contrasting yellows & blues - the film suffers from its made for TV limitations. Set-pieces are sluggish & devoid of the imaginative brutality associated with Craven's best.
