This is a decent film that features some great sailing sequences and the child acting here isn't annoying. Spencer Tracy's performance is almost laughable as he barely attempts an authentic accent and basically feels like a comic version of Tracy but still not as offensive as his younger co-star Mickey Rooney would do in his turn in Breakfast at Tiffany's. The action and set design were impressive.
Nice tearjerker, and the kid's performance is definitely moving. We could've done without Spencer Tracy's Portuguese accent or, what's worse, the painful bits where he attempts to actually speak Portuguese. But a very nice film in all.
