What made this doc interesting to me is that during an economic downturn instead of punishing those responsible the government decides to cut the education budget, which is something that should never be touched.
While the students featured are all incredibly inspiring, the film itself is quite jumbled and features very little chess. Perhaps a better organized narrative and in-depth focus on 2 or 3 of the extraordinary young people at I.S. 318 would have made this documentary more compelling. Happy to have heard these stories, though.
