Arguably the most expensive exploitation of "Star Wars" also reminds what the latter was all about in a first place - a remake of Kurosawa that doesn't shy away from its western roots. It's campy when it needs to be, but there are also moments of suspense - and it's slightly more violent than its original template. Thanks to James Cameron, production design looks much better than its budget would make it seem to be.
