What are people saying?

  • Georges Iroh's rating of the film Ballets russes

Only good can come from pushing and redefining the boundaries of any art form. A series of unbelievable stories, all of which provide genuine education about the history of modern dance and provide context for a collection of filmed performances, each one more gripping than the next. Croatian ballerina Mia Slavenska's magnetism is unequaled to this very day.

  • Loz Loory's rating of the film Ballets russes

4.5 Does a great job of explaining the history of the original Diaghilev troop and then the advent of two more troops with nearly identical names. Fantastic footage of vintage performances. Terrific interviews with surviving members. Wonderful tribute to Massine's choreographic genius. Great history of Balanchine before the advent of NYCB. A must for any lover of dance and dance history.
