Janet Frobisher, a mystery novelist, is horrified when her estranged husband arrives at her house in the Yorkshire moors after robbing a bank and killing a policeman.
OK Bette Davis vehicle finding her a murderess being blackmailed by her dead husband's accomplice trying to avoid discovery of the truth by a nosey neighbour. Saved by a clever ending this one is pretty much standard otherwise.
Interesting to see a mid-century noir set on the moors of England - a little bit of Brontë meets Rebecca meets Bette Davis. Altogether a rewarding watch.
6.7/10 "Indeed, she is no man’s fortune but all man’s poison."

There's a campy quality, but not the best Bette Davis flick.
Stereotypical Bette Davis' movie. You know what you are watching.
