"Anchorman" rarely strays from the romantic comedy playbook when it comes to the film's main storyline, lending the proceedings an overwhelming sense of familiarity. Thank goodness, then, for the film's insanely quotable script (which has been quoted ad nauseam) and the moments of genuine absurdity sprinkled throughout, like an impromptu jazz flute solo or Jack Black's angry biker punting a dog off a bridge.
It's just sad to see that Steve Carell is the only funny character in this. A waste of time, almost every joke is less funny than a small fart. It's not even worth to talk about cinema, in fact that must be the biggest joke and in this case it's a hit !
This is one movie where Will Ferrell definitely got caught with his pants down. There were a lot of ways a movie like this could have gone but Apatow managed to find a way to sell the concept way short.
The Will Ferrell's writing is awesome, the dialogues and the characters are hilarious, which perfectly match with the great performances. It's hard to not to laugh at Steve Carell or at Will Ferrell. The soundtrack is very relaxing and it perfectly accompanies the movie's environment and mood. Anchorman is a fun, stupid and relaxing light comedy, but, sometimes, it is not as funny as it tries to be.
