Set in a future where consciousness is digitized and stored in cortical stacks implanted in the spine, allowing humans to survive physical death by having their memories and consciousness “re-sleeved” into new bodies.

These adaptations are always a crap-shoot. It's a great book, and certainly deserving of a mini-series. They spent a lot on the visual effects and they look good. Not so much on the script. Some of the actors are pretty bad. Since the 2nd series is recast there's still hope that it will be better.
There's a lot to like, perhaps even more to be frustrated at. Sometimes, AC finds its footing, borrows from the best noirs and really soars. Others, it loses itself in an unnecessarily convoluted plot that has trouble rewarding the viewers. Still, the world building is top notch.
Incredible SFX and choreography (and acting from some minor roles), with undercurrents of philosophy and sociology that grow within the world building - it never fails to get you to question the ideas presented. However, the lack of originality in the story is a problem for interesting sci-fi concepts. It's still just a seen-it-all-before murder mystery, with some incredibly bad dialogue at points.
Visually it was awesome which kept me going when my give-a-shit ran out. I can forgive a few small-to-medium deus ex machina moments in these things but the Big Reveal here was complete horseshit. Don't wanna ruin it for anyone but jesusfuckingchrist was it some "we got nothing' so let's bring in some outta nowhere crap". Didn't feel like a twist at all - more like a complete cop-out.
[1 season] More of a weak 3.5, but quite an enjoyable and visually appealing cyberpunk mystery with enough slick and cleaned-up sex and violence for a modern viewer. Although not really deep or anything, it touches upon some interesting themes, like mortality, memory, and responsibility.
