35mm. Indie Lisboa # 1. How is it that a 56-year-old film is as fresh and new as it should have been on its opening? How is it that such improvisation, full of sudden movements, intuitive travellings, light and pop music all the time, and so much lightness, can still captivate us as if all that was being created at this moment, before our eyes and ears, and not then? The most beautiful european film of the 60s?

Brimming with spontaneity, this nouvelle vague specimen is based on improvisations and non-professional cast; it makes its point about the juxtaposition between life and war (as the hero is drafted to fight in the Algerian front) freed from moralizing.
