I can solve your internal debate by telling you to watch Battle of Algiers. At no point in human history will Sawdust & Tinsel or Blast of Silence take precedent over that film.
As for me, I’ve yet to see Gregory Nava’s El Norte, so the January blu-ray release will be my first viewing.
Mon Oncle Antoine.
I just went to my local library (criterion flicks for free), so my list is:
Jean Cocteau’s Beauty and the Beast
Lord of the Flies
Tokyo Story
The Burmese Harp
Also, can’t wait to watch:
El Norte
The Exterminating Angel
Simon of the Desert
Dodes’ka-den
bump, i guess…
of the films coming out, i’m most excited for (and have never seen!) My Dinner with Andre, Wise Blood, and Last Year at Marienbad. i’m sure they’ll be in my Netflix queue very quickly, just like The Exterminating Angel was a couple months ago.
as for films already released i’m anticipating seeing soon:
Ran
Vengence Is Mine
Faces (got the Cassavetes set a long time ago, still haven’t seen them all)
che- i was gonna get the dvd till criterion announced their edition
vellaem
I’m debating between:
The Battle of Algiers
Blast of Silence
Sawdust & Tinsel
