Thanks for pushing back the starting date, and for those breaks in between the group matches. That sounds great. :)

Christine will probably have the link sometime soon. Unfortunately, Breaking the Waves did not survive copyright issues, so it is gone for the time being. Once an alternate solution is figured out, I will let everyone know.
Thank you Kai, you´re definitely in the league of the great world cup uploaders with Myra and Blue K. It´s sad that Breaking the Waves didn´t survive, maybe you should encode the title and audio track if you´re planning to put it up again, though it will generally be the Danish film which most people have already seen, maybe alongside The Passion of Joan of Arc.
K, here’s Young Aphrodites for Team Baltic. Please watch it and vote, or we’ll never hear the end of it from Dimitris. Just kidding, D. :P

And finally, here’s Wanderers in the Desert for Team Africa.

More from Denmark, this time After the Wedding -

I’m in despair, the internet reception here is awful and every youtube film i’m trying (Hyenas, Wanderers, La Antena..) keeps stopping every 2-3 seconds, which means my plans to see them all for voting are now likely to be scuppered! Either that or watch each film for 8 hours. Yesterday it did work better so fingers crossed.
Kenji, I was having that same problem. Open each part in a new tab, and pause it after two seconds. Leave your computer on while you leave the house or watch a movie or something and wahlah its loaded.
Gentlemen, go to this link, and download the youtube downloading freeware.

Then you can download the videos and watch them later continuously even without internet connection using a multimedia video player like VLC or Gom. IM me if you have any Qs, much easier than it sounds.
Last one from Denmark, Christoffer Boe’s Reconstruction -

Yay! Thanks for the big push for Denmark, Kai!
I have meanwhile uploaded the missing Indian film for the first round called “Subarnarekha (The Golden River)” by Ritwik Ghatak, and the playlist can be found here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s-1Kj80I3zQ&feature=PlayList&p=C634910FE9ACE593&index=0 . There are still two more Indian films left, and UK´s “King and Country” by Joseph Losey also hasn´t been uploaded yet.
Great! I was starting to worry that I wouldn’t be able to see that one and I was very much looking forward to it. That only leaves seven films in the first set of matches that I currently can’t see.
Has anyone been able to find the Ciulei films? (Dimitris, why did your selections have to be so obscure?! :P)
Well, El Viaje can be viewed here, but unfortunately there are only Chinese subs (that I myself am struggling with, I might add — my language skills are deteriorating!)… I guess it’ll be useful for some of you Spanish speakers out there.
"Dimitris, why did your selections have to be so obscure?! "
because i was optimistic about English subtitles :)
Ralch and I are the weirdos of the Cup,hahaha.
Apursansar i believe has found them but without any English subs, add this to the obvious absence of Spanish-speaking and Turkish films,so….in case anyone knows Turkish,Spanish and/or Romanian..these films will be getting the least of votes :P
Aw, you know I’m just kidding Dimitris. I really wish English subs were available for these films by Ciulei though that you selected. Sigh.
Yes, those Argentinian films are difficult to track down too I find, unfortunately. :(
Heck, subtitles or no, I’ll watch them anyway. I watched The Jackal of Nahueltoro before the subs were added and it was still a pleasure and I think it was comprehensible, so if Dimitris didn’t pick the Balkan version of My Dinner with Andre hopefully it will still be “gettable.”
“Open each part in a new tab, and pause it after two seconds. Leave your computer on while you leave the house or watch a movie or something and wahlah its loaded.”
Drew thats a great Idea.
Thanks for the links everyone you are my heros!
“so if Dimitris didn’t pick the Balkan version of My Dinner with Andre hopefully it will still be “gettable.””
funniest thing of the whole month :P
i’ll try myself to watch films without subs so far, especially Wood’s picture….but i feel that if anyone who doesn’t know the language and decides to vote anyhow,he/she should consider the IMAGES of the respective pictures as a primary clue instead of the plotline and the films’ linear…
Is Wood’s The Good Life online somewhere?
And another link:
The Life of Oharu
So which films and matches are the problems for getting viewings and votes, and what can or should be done before they kick off? Is it all viable? Thanks for all the uploads and work people have been doing
Well, Dimitris and Myra, at least Angelopoulos’ Reconstruction should happen, unfortunately it will have to be the version recorded off TV though. There’s a Chinese DVD of Reconstruction but it has only Chinese subs… :(
Doesn’t Apursansar live in Buenos Aires? He’d be our best bet and last chance for Team Argentina… I’m pretty much out of resources after uploading La Antena and Invasion.
And after I upload Angelopoulos’ Reconstruction, Team Balkans will have 7 of 9 selections online, which really isn’t bad at all.
Blue, thanks for the Angelopoulos. I found a decent quality version, but unfortunately part 4 was corrupt and it made the entire film out of sync… :(
In spite of the fact that I swore I was done with uploading (since I’m done with my Danish teams films), I will be uploading Hungary’s Adoption sometime tonight. I know it’s up against the Grand Illusion, but it’s good enough to see.
Oh great news, one i’d wanted to see anyway before this cup, thanks. I’ll see the Angelopoulos later, still catching up one ones i can vote on.
“I know it’s up against the Grand Illusion, but it’s good enough to see.”
my dear Marta has nothing to be jealous of monsieur Renoir’s popular reputation ;)
Blue K,if this is really a TV version, then this is probably the ONLY TV VERSION,and believe it or not,the one and only time Greece showed Reconstruction for public viewing….
Okay, seems like I’m done with the uploading. Here is the link to Hasta el viento tiene miedo and you can download Deep Crimson through the following rapidshare links (both movies are already subtitled):

And I agree, Dimitris, I actually liked this a little bit better than I did Grand Illusion. I was trying to use reverse psychology to get people to want to watch it :).

Really looking forward to this. A nice prelude for my return to college.
