Several years ago I had the pleasure of seeing Flesh For Frankenstein in 3D on the big screen at a midnight showing. This was up in the San Francisco bay area. It’s probably not something that you will see showing up in many theaters these days but if you have any older cinemas that cater to more than the latest waste of good film, you might find it showing up. At least we have Criterion. If they ever choose to revisit Flesh as they have others in the collection, I would hope they would think about doing a double disk of Flesh and include a 3D version as a bonus.
I would definately check this out in 3-d! Hopefully it will be done someday
I did, a long time ago, on a double bill with Andy’s DRACULA. It was in the 80s, but the trouble was they were showing an original print from the 70s, and it was pretty much a crispy critter by then. Plus the glasses were ridiculously uncomfortable and cumbersome. My experience then was not a happy one.
However …
I do a lot of work with the Warhol Museum Film Office and I know there is a lot going on with the restoration of ALL film attached to Andy, including these. Plus, there is a load of stuff happening with 3-D film in Hollywood right now, so there might actually be a revival? The only thing I can’t tell you is anything about copyrights, which usually becomes a sticking point in such situations.

Has anyone seen Flesh For Frankenstein recently in an actual theater in 3D. Of course I’ve seen the Criterion DVD but I would love to see this ridiculous film on the big screen so the spear can poke right into my eye.
Any art houses in LA perhaps that have a 3D print and the proper glasses?
