“No lieutenant, your men are already dead.” :O

It took me almost three hours to make this… gahhhhhhhhhhhh. I’m quite pleased with it though. _
By the way, it is a response to Jordan Lord’s challenge about redesigning a Criterion cover that you dislike. I find the real Videodrome cover to be quite boring (but making the spine look like a VHS tape was cool). Criterion, why just use a screenshot from the film for the cover? Mehhhh. It’s a great shot, granted, but anyone could make that in a minute.
I think the anime was the unofficial and the rumored releases was the official (if those terms even apply on this glorious thread).
That Videodrome cover is great!
For the Dourif challenge but i really couldnt find any creative influence for this one

Terrific Videodrome, Jonathan! And I also like the idea of the made-up film challenge for next week, for whatever that’s worth . . .
I need help!!! I have been working on a cover for a very long time, and I clicked exit don’t save on the cover I had been working on instead of a picture!!!!! How can I recover it???
According to the internet I am out of luck. Wow I just wasted 2 hours.
i dont know man did you save at all during the process?
I rarely come over to this wing of the site but I’m always pleasantly surprised when I do. I wish my Photoshop skills were as good as you guys.
@David Dardanelli – I love your cover for The Last Winter. This is what the DVD cover SHOULD have looked like. I have no idea why they made a new, completely stupid looking cover instead of using the poster, which is fucking amazing.
Fredo: Thank you, I liked the minmalism they used for the poster. I haven’t seen the dvd cover yet, but it dosen’t sound to good.
Fake Shemp: I like the Idea for this weeks challenge imaginary film, sounds fun. We could also add little captions that telll you about the movie and some credits like actors, DPs, and screenwriters.
I would just like to share with everyone that the cover I lost was, Soybean’s The Lord of the Onion Rings: The Return of The King. I am sad to say that this cover will never be seen, because as we established yesterday, I am a dumb ass.
It’s okay, Drew. The world needs dumb asses too. For what it’s worth, good luck with your play.
I like the imaginary film covers idea.
Can I request one of a Moullet film? Say, The Smugglers, Brigitte and Brigitte, or A Girl is a Gun?
Wow, that really was a fantastic Videodrome. And that was another of the covers I’ve never been impressed with, along with Dead Ringers. Which got me to remember that most of the ones I don’t like are actually out of print and have been as long as I’ve been collecting, like the pretty early ones…Silence of the Lambs, both Paul Morrisseys, and especially The Unbearable Lightness of Being (which is actually one of the only non-Criterion DVDs that I quite like the packaging for). Although in the same vein, I also have never been a fan of either Walkabout or Picnic at Hanging Rock’s covers, especially when both are so visually striking. Obviously, the graphic design has improved vastly as Criterion has evolved (although I still miss the second version of the Criterion logo).
I prefer this cover for Picnic at Hanging Rock to Criterion’s. Gorgeous, imo.
Johnathan, it was time well spent. Really great cover.
Thanks everyone! This is a new one I made:

For the back cover I edited the movie synopsis for the film from the auteurs page and I just made up some special features, haha.

Pendy…that Black Hole cover is better than the movie…(and apologies to Saul Bass’s Vertigo sprirograph)
Ha! Thanks… Many, many apologies to the great Saul Bass :)
I couldn’t decide, so here are both variants that I’ve done. :/

There’s a lot of nice covers that have been posted on here recently. I hope everyone keeps on posting!
What is this weeks challenge?

Sekzee
Yes, leave the Matrix title out and the rabbit.
LOL @ Pan’s Labyrinth
Jonathan
Thas impressive.
David, Belle de Jour is probably the NUMBER ONE movie I want on Criterion and I am always hoping they utilize that image for the cover. Great job!
Belle de Jour is beautiful…that really nails the film and C. Deneuve’s discombobulation (is that a word?)
CHALLENGE!!!
We talked about it earlier in the thread, and the consensus seemed to be for this one:
Make covers for films that do not exist
These can be whatever you want: dream projects of yours, non-existing biographies, anything, but they just can’t be for any film or any upcoming film.
Have fun and we’ll all post them on Sunday night.
CHALLENGE!!!
Should I redo my lost cover?
Hmm I might.
[Drew]
Haha or how about make a cover for one of the imaginary McDonalds movies?
