Is the Director acting

I do not wish to get into politics here. But in Take 2 1/2 when the director says that “I think that Bush is a man trying to take over the world.” is he acting? Even someone who is honestly and intelligently anti-Bush would not make such a hyperbolic statement.

The films deal with the layers of manipulation in cinema and who is exactly in control of the film making process. William Greaves admits that he was intentionally acting stupid in order to misdirect the crew. That along with the psychic and the horribly cliche excuse of an ending makes me think that the director was being facetious.

Greaves was performing throughout all of Symbiopsychotaxiplasm, knowing that every single aspect of the production had the potential to end up on screen. He also manipulated people into making them do exactly what he wanted, even though in their minds they were rebelling against the director.

This isn’t really acting but David O. Russell for I heart Huckabees would intentionally freak out and try to psychologically mess with the actors trying to mess with there heads in order to make many of them act more insecure or unstable.

i just saw “symbio…take 1” today. i thought it was great. the film got at some very interesting truths (and untruths). and the editing had a wonderful rhythm, particularly the first scene shot on that small bridge in the park.
