On it's own, EL MARIACHI is not a great film. What makes it great is what went into it, the passion, the creativity, and the spirit of making your own damn movie by any means necessary. This is what makes EL MARIACHI a great film.

This is an awesome film if you know that it was made on a shoestring budget beforehand. The story is awesome and rather much better than many multi million dollar Hollywood crap. The movie could indeed have been made much better but I think it is nevertheless a piece of inspiration to every person on this site who dreams to make his own full length film someday.

A extremely low budget film that works just as good as a multi- million dollar action film. Rodriguez may not be in the league of great directors but he sure is an inspirational one to beginning filmmakers.

Jajaja yes indeed, Colton Bose, but, dont worry, both Once Upon a ime in Mexico and El Mariachi are very Bad movies in wich Rodriguez analized himself...

A triumpth of low budget film making. It goes a long way to show how Passion, ingenuity, and a handful of talent can make a lot from very very little.

I was just about to say the same thing. But as for "EL Mariachi" although i myself am not a fan of Rodriguez you definitely have to commend him for his passion for film. He hits all the right notes in this film and shows us how to make good film when you HAVE to cut corners.
