Martin Scorsese

Martin Scorsese was born in New York City and soon developed a passion for cinema and a particular admiration for neo-realist cinema which inspired him and influenced his view or portrayal of his Sicilian heritage. After graduating from NYU Film School in 1966 and making a number of shorts, he shot his first feature-length film Who’s That Knocking at My Door (1968) with fellow student, actor Harvey Keitel, and editor Thelma Schoonmaker both of whom were to become long-term collaborators. I love this film. For me,it's Scorsese's best in many years. It may has flows, but it's a great and moving story. And DDL's performance is a goddamn pleasure. And,as Drew said,I also can't understand the criticism.

Am I in the minority?

By Mark Ayala on December 13, 2009

I haven’t seen this in a since it first came out so I decided to re-watched it last night. It’s strange because people say it’s Scorsese’s weakest and there are certain flaws with the movie, but for…  read review

This film is flawed. But so is INTOLERANCE, THE FALL OF THE ROMAN EMPIRE, SATYRICON. Over time, the riches and wealth of details in this film will stand cleareer than it’s admitted weaknesses.  read review
