Synopsis

Stephane Miroux works in Paris for a calendar production company. He makes up for the monotony in his life through his dreams. He is held captive by the people in his dreams, but when he falls in love with his next door neighbour, Stephanie, he realizes that he will have to try to wake himself up and take control of his own imaginings if he wants to capture his dream girl. Although initially charmed by his eccentricities, Stephanie soon begins to see the more worrying side of loving someone living in an imaginary world.

Michel Gondry is a native of Versailles who was raised in a freethinking family that encouraged and supported his creative endeavors; his parents harbored a deep love of pop music and the works of Duke Ellington, in particular. Gondry’s grandfather Constant… read more

A beautiful gem of a film. The imagination on display in the dream sequences is inspiring: from cut-out cardboard cities to patchwork toy horses gallaping around fields. There’s a gentle humour running…  read review
