Synopsis

From director David Lynch comes the story of Niki Grace, an established Hollywood film star, accepts a role in a re-make of an old, supposedly ‘cursed’, Polish film, which was not never finished due to the fact the lead roles were murdered during production. To further complicate the matters, as Niki starts to prepare for her role, she finds herself falling in love with the lead actor. Soon, the line between dreams and reality, fiction and non-fiction starts to blur taking the characters (and the audience) into a labyrinthine of illusions, madness, murder and filmmaking…

David Lynch

David Lynch is the Renaissance man of modern American filmmaking, an acclaimed and widely recognized writer/director as well as television producer, photographer, cartoonist, composer, and graphic artist. Walking the tightrope between the mainstream and the avant-garde with remarkable balance and skill, Lynch brings to the screen a singularly dark and disturbing view of reality, a nightmare world punctuated by defining moments of extreme violence, bizarre comedy, and strange beauty. More than any other arthouse filmmaker of his era, he has enjoyed considerable mass acceptance and has helped to redefine commercial tastes, honing a surrealistic aesthetic so visionary and deeply personal that the phrase “Lynchian” was coined simply to describe it.

Born January 20, 1946, in Missoula, MO, David Keith Lynch grew up the archetypal all-American boy. The son of a U.S. Department of Agriculture research scientist, he was raised throughout the Pacific Northwest, eventually becoming an Eagle… read more

Seeing this film was the most enjoyable, terrifying cinematic experience of my entire life. The Wurlitzer played something moody before David Lynch introduced the movie with a quote from the Upanishads.

Do I adore you or just love you really-really-much ? Perhaps, Lynch loses some sensitivity here and there (dialogues and editing, music), but who DARE to go as far as he is in a "mainstream" fiction movie ? Nobody. The extra scenes are just as original, often better than the ones selected !!

To this day, no film has affected me to the degree Inland Empire has. It took me hours to shake off my initial reaction—a seamless mixture of confusion, intense fascination, and even fear. As of this…  read review

On the whole I agree with what is being said before me. The film felt spot-on for me only sporadically - and Eraserhead is my #1 favorite film. Though the film does achieve, in discreet moments, a…  read review

David Lynch spoofs David Lynch in “Inland Empire”. That was quite Lynchian of me. Well the truth is, although i give it three stars, i know it’s not a good movie. Deeply incoherent, like bites and…  read review

It’s somewhat difficult to really criticize a film that is such a claustrophobic vision. Inland Empire is pure Lynch, and thanks to his creative encouragement from Studio Canal, and his avant-garde…  read review
